You’ll spend the day in the stunning volcanic Visegrád Hills, where you can admire the remnants of an ancient volcano. The large rocks and boulders along the trail tell the story of a powerful eruption long ago. Don’t worry—the volcano is no longer active, so you’re perfectly safe.

After the first climb, you’ll find yourself on a ridge offering spectacular views of the Danube River and the surrounding mountains. This spot is known as the Vadálló Stones.

A few hundred meters of further ascent will bring you to Prédikálószék, a summit that boasts one of the most beautiful views in Hungary. Here, you can climb up to the lookout, enjoy a snack, and take in the incredible panorama of the Danube Bend.

Once your energy is replenished, a long downhill stretch awaits, leading into a wild, untouched valley. Before tackling the canyon climb, you can refill your bottles and hydration packs at a clear, cold mountain spring.

The Rám Canyon is an adventure for both young and old, and it’s no surprise that it’s among the most popular hiking destinations near Budapest. Its cool, shaded environment, dramatic cliffs, and waterfalls invite you to climb with the help of ladders and railings. After ascending through the canyon, we’ll begin our descent back to the starting point, filled with positive energy and unforgettable memories.

The full hike covers 18 km with an elevation gain of 800 m. It’s recommended for experienced hikers, but it’s still manageable for anyone in good health and reasonable fitness.
